For all those enthusiasts who wondered what ever happened to the idea of a Golf Cabrio, the officials at Volkswagen have?a little surprise up their sleeve. For the first time since the first generation, Volksvagen?presented the first videos as well as a bunch of new photos of a red, topless and steamy?Volkswagen Golf GTI.

To feed that lust a little further, officials say the GTI Cabriolet features?an electricaly powered fabric roof that can be open or close in ~9.5 seconds at speeds of up to 30km/h.

Under the hood the GTI has a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 210 HP (155 kW ) and 280 NM of torque which will be connected to a six-speed manual or optional six-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox.?It will be a little slower than the ?roofed? version so accelerating from 0 to 100km/h will be in ~7.3 seconds with a top speed of 237km/h. Fuel consumption will be somewhere around 7.6l/km while CO2 emissions 180g/km.

The return of the topless Volkswagen GTI marks the final variant of the sixth generation Golf ?( before the new model arrives next year ) and the first available models will arrive in dealerships in June.
